Winner 2023!!
Abby Van Eerden
Abstract
This essay was the result of a compilation of research pertaining to Native American experiences with literary injustice both in my course of Tutoring Across Cultures, and in my own time. I am personally interested in environmental justice, and hope to become an environmental lawyer one day, which led me to conjugate my research with literary injustice with environmental injustice. As I mention in my author’s note, I am in no way claiming to have personal experience on this subject, and I understand that this writing does not contain the quality of knowledge someone who has personal experience would have.

ENWR 1520 - Professor Stephenson
This project emerged as part of the final assignment from my ENWR class (ENWR 1520) that centered on community engagement within Charlottesville. Although not directly in partnership with our classes community partner - The Haven - this project was meant to illuminate the growing problem of unregulated subleasing on sites like Airbnb and Vrbo on the housing market, impacting much of the Haven’s daily activities. The research for this project centered on the growth of Airbnb within the city of Charlottesville, and how that directly correlates with the dwindling amount of affordable housing, particularly in low-income areas.
